Emschergenossenschaft/Lippeverband
The Emschergenossenschaft (Emscher Water Management Association) was founded on December 14, 1899, and was the first German water board. It later inspired the foundation of several other water boards, among them the Lippeverband, which was founded on January 18, 1926. Our activities in the Emscher region can be traced back over 100 years. Drawing on the vast experience gained during this time, we are able to offer services for the specific needs of the people and the commercial development of the Emscher river catchment area. As a public corporation, the Emschergenossenschaft is supported by its members: cities, municipalities and mining companies as well as industrial, commercial and infrastructural companies.

TU Dortmund University Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Components (IUL)
The Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Components (IUL) conducts research on the next generation of forming processes and educates the future workforce in these production technologies and their scientific underpinnings. Students acquire knowledge in the field of forming science and technology and in the corresponding forming machines and processes in order to succeed in the industrial working environment or to enter an academic career. The research activities of the IUL comprise the invention of new metal forming processes and process chains, as well as the extension and better understanding of existing production processes. The objectives are physical process descriptions, the configuration and improvement of component properties, and a holistic approach to process efficiency. Methodological key aspects are material characterization and simulation methods. The fundamental research results are transferred to industrial practice, often accompanied by industrial partners.

University of Duisburg-Essen
The Chair of Sustainability and Innovation in Digital Ecosystems
The Chair of Sustainability and Innovation in Digital Ecosystems, part of the Rhine-Ruhr Institute
of Information Systems, explores how digital technologies can contribute to building sustainable and resilient societies. The research emphasizes the socio-economic dimensions of digital ecosystems, focusing on data, knowledge, and entrepreneurship as key drivers of transformation. Key areas of investigation include the structure and dynamics of digital ecosystems, including innovation and transaction platforms. These ecosystems bring together a diverse range of stakeholders who collectively shape the landscape of digital innovation. The research advances responsible and future-oriented digital development by supporting individuals and organizations in strategically positioning themselves within these ecosystems. Methodologically, the Chair combines quantitative, qualitative, and design-based approaches, often applying longitudinal or multi- layered perspectives to capture the complexity of digital transformation processes. In teaching, the Chair offers interactive, research-led courses exploring transformation at the firm and ecosystem levels. Blended learning formats and real-world, applied engagement are central to the student learning experience.
