FFP 2025 Project
As part of his 2025 Future Fellowship, Dr. Benjamin Badstieber aims to advance the international EmoSmart project, which investigates how emotional schemas influence teaching and learning in schools. While emotional schemas have been studied in psychotherapy and parent-child relationships, their role in classroom dynamics and teacher-student interactions remains largely unexplored in both German and Anglo-American contexts.
The project focuses on analyzing data from a recent survey of school professionals in Germany, planning a comparative international study, and integrating research findings into teacher education. The overarching goal is to strengthen educators’ social-emotional competencies and promote more inclusive, equitable school environments.
Dr. Badstieber will continue his collaboration with Patricia Jennings from the University of Virginia and Lucia Amrhein from the University of Duisburg-Essen. His research stay will include visits to Charlottesville and New York City to support international exchange and develop a joint research proposal.
